Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Did you know that St. Patrick wasn't actually born in Ireland, but in Britain?  According to many sites on the Internet, he was kidnapped when he was 16 and taken to Ireland.  He was later credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland and spent many years sharing his faith with the Irish people.  Can you find the answers to these St. Patrick's Day trivia questions? Post the answer to all 3 questions in your comment.  Good luck!

  1. Where did the first St. Patrick's Day parade take place?
  2. What was St. Patrick's name when he was born?
  3. Why is the shamrock used as a symbol of St. Patrick's Day?

Below are our poll results from yesterday.  16 people took this poll.  What can you tell from this graph?  Do you think we would get the same results if 100 people took the poll?  Why or why not?

On March 13, 1733, English scientist Joseph Priestley invented carbonated water, which is what puts the "fizz" in our soda.
  1. Where was Pepsi invented? (city and state)
  2. What soda did Coke begin selling in 1972 to compete with Dr Pepper?
  3. What other invention by Joseph Priestley is something you use almost every day?  Hint--you probably have one of these in your desk or backpack.
*Congratulations to Jakhari who was the first person to answer the questions correctly!  See the comments for his answers.  Congratulations also to Gregory, Jakolbe, and Cesar, who also answered the questions correctly!
